The City of Madison is a partner of Nike's Reuse A Shoe program.

The Reuse A Shoe program will allow area residents to recycle their old athletic shoes. Nike will then take the old shoes and turn them into Nike Grind, a product used to make athletic surfaces such as basketball courts, soccer fields, running tracks and tennis courts.

What Type of Shoes Can Be Recycled?

You can recycle any athletic shoe. Shoes used for basketball, running, soccer, softball, wrestling, football, volleyball, and even golf shoes can be recycled. The only athletic shoes that cannot be recycled are shoes with metal spikes or cleats.
